Condominium policies are a unique situation. When a loss occurs at a condominium complex there are often two polices involved. The first is the policy carried by the association that typically covers the exterior of the property inward to the bare sheetrock. The second policy involved is typically the homeowner’s policy for everything from the sheetrock inside the unit including the contents in most cases. However, there are sometimes what are called manuscript policies that are custom written for the property and often times the rules are very different for these types of policies. Condominium bylaws come into play as well so we encourage a thorough policy review by a trained professional should a loss occur in your condominium complex.
